About Make Driving Suck Less
Look, I'm not anti-car. I drive. I own a car. I parallel park with the best of them (okay, with the mediocre of them). But I'm pro-making-sense, and having a city of 1.6 million people all trying to drive everywhere makes about as much sense as... well, it just doesn't make sense.
What's this all about?
This blog explores how we can make driving in Philly suck less by making not driving suck less. It's a simple idea: if we want less traffic, we need fewer cars on the road. And to get fewer cars on the road, we need to make other options actually work for people.
Why me?
I'm not an urban planner or a traffic engineer. I'm just a person who:
Lives in Philly
Drives in Philly
Bikes in Philly
Walks in Philly
Wants all of the above to suck less
Think of me as that neighbor who's always drawing diagrams on napkins at the local coffee shop, explaining how that one intersection could work better if we just moved a few things around.
What to expect
I'll be writing about:
Street design that actually works for everyone
How other cities have solved similar problems
Local initiatives and their potential impact
The occasional frustrated rant about people who park in bike lanes (with constructive suggestions for improvement, of course)
I'm focusing on practical, actionable ideas. No pie-in-the-sky urbanist fantasies here - just reasonable steps toward a city where getting around doesn't have to suck.
